The Big Thaw & Icicles
Open the curtains and it was like looking out the mouth of a ragged tooth shark or tiger. So pretty but dangerous. Icicles pulling down on gutters full of ice above the brim with an avalanche of snow backing up. Eery sounding groan and grate as sections slipped away. Bits of guttering amongst the pile of snow and ice. Being ‘listed’ our gutters should be cast iron, but on this occasion I was glad of the plastic that clipped back in place – a couple of Post Office vehicles at Blaenau were out of action for parking beneath their cast iron gutters.
